Book Bites is the central library’s book club that meets the last Friday of every month at 4:00pm. For those of us who are just too busy to make it in for a meeting but still want to discuss some great novels – Book Bites has a blog, too! Participating is as easy as 1 2 3!
At the beginning of each month, a small introduction of the selected book will be added to the blog. I will add some ideas to keep in mind or things to look for as you read. Each week, I will post updates on the reading – covering a specific portion of the book, for example chapters 1-6. You are invited to reply to postings along the way or add your own comments as you go. We will try to avoid spoilers until the final discussions, for anyone who is not reading at exactly the same pace!
The final week of the month should coincide with the reading of the final chapters of the book. Our blog postings and discussions might get a little more interesting, here! I welcome everyone’s opinions, questions, and final thoughts. Then, on the Monday following the face-to-face meeting of Book Bites, I will post a short summary of the discussion. Everyone will get to hear what others think of the book and to share their own thoughts. Then – it will be time to begin the new book!
So book club blogging is as simple as:
1. Get a copy of the monthly selection.
2. Check back on the blog once a week for updates or to share your questions and comments as you read.
3. At the end of the month, add your opinion to the final posting on the book.
You can also follow the blog as a member, to be notified whenever there is a new posting on the website. Contact Susan Garza at 713.4770276 for help or more information.
